The UNESCO Heritage Site of the Wachau is about 70 km away from Vienna. It is a beautiful valley along the Danube with picturesque and very old towns, famous monasteries, and beautiful paths and roads. Furthermore, the Wachau is famous for its excellent wines, such as Grüne Veltliner, Riesling, and Zweigelt.
A tour through the Wachau can be organized in different ways, or in other words, in consultation with you: I make a tour plan for a full or half day, depending on your wishes.
A few examples:
- Travelling in a hired minibus or your coach, we drive from Vienna to the old town of Krems or to picturesque Dürnstein for a guided walking tour. We continue by boat along the river Danube to Spitz, passing the most beautiful part of the valley. In Spitz your minibus or coach awaits us and takes us to Melk for a visit to the famous monastery. Afterwards the coach takes you back to Vienna (full day tour).
- In your coach or – if you are a smaller group – in a minibus or by train, we drive to Krems for a walking tour through the old town. Afterwards we head to Spitz for a walk through the vineyards, where we sample delicious wines and enjoy a so-called Heurigenplatte (cheese, meat, bread spreads, etc.).
- A visit to Dürnstein, with the possibility of also visiting the Göttweig monastery, followed by wine tasting.
- By train to Krems and from there by bike to Dürnstein, and back.
There are many options which can shape this program to suit your needs. The program can be developed for both bigger and smaller groups. Simply fill out the request form and include details of your wishes.
