Schönbrunn Palace

Schönbrunn is probably Vienna’s most beautiful palace, and it is definitely Vienna’s most famous one. A visit to Schönbrunn is a MUST for every visitor. This truly magnificent baroque summer palace was home to Empress Maria Theresa and her husband Francis Stephan during the spring and summer months. Later, Emperor Francis Joseph and his famous wife Elisabeth (Sissi) almost lived here continuously.

But did you know that Napoleon stayed in Schönbrunn during his visits to Vienna? Or that the outstanding ballet performances during the world-renowned New Year’s Concert given by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra every year take place in the Palace’s Great Gallery? On this tour I guide you through the main halls and salons with their marvelous baroque and rococo architecture. We look at the many famous family portraits and admire the tapestries and the beautiful inlaid floors. Afterwards we walk through the park with its fountains and statues, perhaps even all the way up to the famous Gloriette.

Three different tours are available. They can be taken by individual visitors, and also smaller and bigger groups.

Duration: approx. 1.5-2 hours
